Tom Gialousis

Nancy and Dave decided to retire their daily commute and move to Portsmouth NH. After searching for an existing Cape or Bungalow they decided to consider a makeover.  They discovered a 1937, 930 sq. ft. ranch on an oversized lot in a nice neighborhood that just came on the market. They hired Wendy Weldon of Art Form Architecture of Portsmouth, NH to transform the look and size of the ranch by adding a second story. Lee Rubin of Selectwood’s installed sales team, recommended Tom Gialousis of Lee NH as a possible contractor. Tom started the project the end of September 2010.
Tom stripped the house down to the first floor studs and ceiling. Nancy and Dave’s goal was to create a new energy efficient, low maintenance home. Nancy who works with Selectwood as a graphic designer consulted with everyone on the sales team about the most appropriate materials. Nancy and Dave chose L.P. Smartside smooth lap prefinished siding and Azek Trim. New and existing windows were replaced with Integrity Wood-Ultrex Series Windows by Marvin along with Velux skylights. Additional exterior materials from Selectwood included Selangan Batu decking on the porch, Crown Column wraps for the posts and clear Douglas Fir bead board on the porch ceiling.
Tom completed the house on time and on budget by March 2011 to the delight of Dave and Nancy. They entered their new home in a contest sponsored by This Old House Magazine and were chosen as one of the top 27  finalists for the Whole House Renovation Category.
